2000s Club Vibes: a Listen to “I Would Run” by Liska Steele
Okay. Am I being punk’d? This isn’t Britney Spears?? Or Gwen Stefani?? I haven’t been transported back to 2001? From the funky, treble-only guitar, to the reverb-heavy snare, to the Moog synth bass, “I Would Run” oozes the sultry, sexy, dirty vibe of early 2000s club pop. The track starts off with a poppy, funky intro that sounds like it came straight out of a PlayStation 2 game soundtrack. It gets you moving right from the beginning and doesn’t let up. This is the kind of bop you keep on repeat on a hot summer evening, sipping on rose and dancing the night away.
From the first hits of the tambourine, you can hear that this track is up to a professional standard of production. This song sounds pretty darn good on any speakers or headphones, and the attention paid to the panning and the EQ on each instrument is obvious because everything has its own notch in the mix and is abundantly clear. Nothing covers anything else up, and the track stays tight.
If you love sexy, straight-forward pop, then “I Would Run” is the song for you. From its repetitive, catchy chourus, to its dancable bassline, to its classic half- spoken bridge, this track is very listenable and would be a great addition to your dance or post-workout playlist.
