Interior Design for Your Ears: a Listen to “I Wanna Decorate Yr Time” by Indigo Uvula
“I Wanna Decorate Yr Time” is a break with what I’ve reviewed before. Though I have reviewed some experimental, synthy music (see Asbestos Lead Asbestos) I haven’t reviewed anything purely “instrumental” yet. That being said, I enjoyed my listen to this track.
If it weren’t clear from the title, “I Wanna Decorate Yr Time” is all about time. The track opens with a glitchy arpeggiated blip, and slips into a sample of belltower clock chimes and ASMR-y crispy clicks and crunches. Through the center of the track, the bell sample shifts and sinks into delayed clips, and reverberation. The whole track feels neatly bookended, with a clear beginning, middle, and end.
If you are a person who gets ASMR tingles, this is the track for you. The sound design is crisp and the track is excellently mixed. This is a treat for anyone who likes electronic music and for producers. If you’re a listener who is more drawn to narrative and thick textures, then this may not be something you will be into, but I suggest you give it a try all the same.
Overall, “I Wanna Decorate Yr Time” is a delicious snack for the ears, and an enticing tidbit for the planned double album Indigo Uvula will be releasing at the end of the summer.
